WHAT GOT YOU INTO BARBERSHOP: When I was in High School in Indiana, my chorus teacher came to me one day and said there was a summer camp going on called Harmony Explosion. She had chosen four of us to go as a quartet. Before then I had never heard of Barbershop, but was immediately hooked, obviously, because I went to the HX camp for the next four years in a row.
FAVORITE BARBERSHOP EXPERIENCE: ....ok... so in its shortness, I'd have to say the Dundalk Boatride this past fall... what a day!

VOICE PART: Baritone
HOMETOWN: Albany, NY
CURRENT RESIDENCE: Gaithersburg, MD
QUARTET(s): Surprise! (Bari), Capital Venture (Bari), The 1980 Four (Bari), plus a couple more in high school (Lead)
WHAT GOT YOU INTO BARBERSHOP: Finding no music program in my school, a teacher formed a Barbershop chorus. Along with numerous quartets, we performed for the school, local events and many Northeast District shows and contests. During college, it never dawned on me to get involved with the local chapter. That was my loss, since that chapter (Rochester, NY) went to International three of those four years. Shortly after starting work with IBM in Poughkeepsie, I joined the Newyorkers chorus. My first contest was the 1970 International in Atlantic City. After IBM downsizing and a move to Maryland, I spent 12 years with the Alexandria Harmonizers, winning 2 golds. Now, I get my Barbershop therapy with the Dundalk Chorus of the Chesapeake, the District of Columbia Singing Capital Chorus, DC’s Capital Assets ensemble, and the Surprise! quartet.
FAVORITE BARBERSHOP EXPERIENCE: ....Winning the 1995 International with the Harmonizers in Miami.
OTHER BARBERSHOP EXPERIENCE: Poughkeepsie’s doll package, hosting the Boston Common in their first Prelims, Harmony College and many, many more. |
